Creating & Managing Projects
This guide covers how to create new projects and manage their settings.
Creating a New Project
Click the New Project button (fixed at bottom-right of the Projects dashboard).
Project Configuration Fields
1. Project Title
The name of your project (e.g., "Production API Server").
2. Indexed Fields (Hashed)
Fields to index for searching. These are hashed for privacy.
- Format: Must start with
context.ordata.followed by the field name - Example:
context.userId,data.orderId - Note: Initial indexes cannot be removed after creation
- Use for: Strings and IDs
When to Use Hashed Indexes
Use for fields you need to filter by exact match, like user IDs, order IDs, or status values.
3. Raw Indexed Fields
Numeric or sortable fields that need range queries.
- Format: Must start with
context.ordata.followed by the field name - Example:
data.price,context.responseTime - Note: Initial raw indexes cannot be removed after creation
- Use for: Numbers and sortable fields (allows
>,>=,<,<=operators)
4. Deduplication Strategy
Controls how duplicate logs are handled:
- Full Payload (Recommended) - Only exact payload matches are deduplicated
- Index Only (Space Efficient) - Groups logs by indexed fields, reduces storage
- None (Maximum Detail) - Stores every log separately
5. Retention Period
How long logs should remain in the system:
- Enter a numeric value
- Select the unit: Hours or Days
- Total retention is displayed in hours
Example: 7 Days = 168 hours
6. Allowed Origins
Domains permitted to send logs (for browser-based SDKs):
- Enter full URLs:
https://example.com - Use
*to allow all origins (not recommended for production) - Multiple origins can be added
Security
For production, specify exact allowed origins instead of using *.
Validation Rules
Indexes and Raw Indexes:
- Must start with
context.ordata. - Must have a field name after the prefix
- Must start with
Allowed Origins:
- Must be
*OR a valid URL with protocol and hostname
- Must be
Click Submit to create your project.

Click the Settings button (top-right of project header) to open the settings modal.
Editable Settings
All project settings can be updated:
- Project Title
- Indexed Fields (Hashed)
- Raw Indexed Fields
- Deduplication Strategy
- Retention Period

Initial Index Protection
Initial indexes set during project creation cannot be removed. You can only add new indexes.
Click Save Changes to apply updates or Cancel to discard.
Project Configuration Best Practices
Choosing Indexes
Hashed Indexes - Use for:
- User IDs, Session IDs
- Status values, Event types
- Any string for exact match filtering
Raw Indexed Fields - Use for:
- Timestamps, Response times
- Prices, Counts, Metrics
- Any numeric value needing range queries
Deduplication Strategy
- Full Payload - Best for debugging
- Index Only - Best for high-volume applications
- None - Best when every event must be logged separately
Retention Period
- Development: 1-7 days
- Production: 30-90 days
- Compliance: Set based on requirements
Allowed Origins
- Development: Can use
*for convenience - Production: Always specify exact domains

Cannot Be Undone
Deleting a project permanently removes all logs and configuration. This action cannot be undone.
