What is Logstyx?

Logstyx is an open-source, self-hosted logging platform built for developers who simply want to see logs from deployed applications—without SSH access, without learning a new observability stack, and without paying for premium SaaS tiers.

It provides a secure, centralized way to collect and view application logs while keeping full ownership of your data, your infrastructure, and your costs.

The Vision

Logging should be a basic developer utility, not a specialized discipline.

In many teams today, logs are:

  • Locked behind SSH access
  • Hidden inside cloud provider dashboards
  • Accessible only to a few people with elevated permissions
  • Expensive to retain at scale

This slows down debugging and creates unnecessary security risks.

Logstyx exists to democratize log access inside teams—so the people who write the code can safely see what that code is doing in production.

Core Principles

Developer-First (Not Ops-First)

Logstyx is intentionally focused on one goal:

Let developers see logs from deployed applications with minimal friction.

If you can write JavaScript and run Docker, you can run Logstyx. No agents, no collectors, no proprietary query languages.

True Self-Hosting

Logstyx runs entirely on infrastructure you control:

  • No SaaS dependency
  • No third-party data access
  • No usage-based billing

Your logs stay where you decide they should live.

Privacy by Design

Logs often contain sensitive data.

Logstyx ensures:

  • Logs are stored on your infrastructure
  • Sensitive data is encrypted at rest
  • Access is controlled by your own authentication rules

No external telemetry. No hidden data flows.

Architecture Overview

Logstyx uses a small set of focused services:

  • Gateway Service – Entry point for SDKs and clients
  • Core Service – Log processing, indexing, and storage
  • Auth Service – Authentication and authorization
  • Cache Service – Redis-based performance layer
  • Frontend – Web UI for viewing logs
  • Utility Service – Background jobs and extensions

Each service can be scaled independently.

How Logstyx Works

  1. Your application sends logs using a Logstyx SDK
  2. Requests enter through the Gateway Service
  3. Core Service processes and stores logs in MongoDB
  4. RabbitMQ coordinates asynchronous processing
  5. Redis accelerates frequent queries
  6. Developers view logs through the web UI

What Makes Logstyx Different?

Hashed Indexing

  • Fast exact-match queries
  • Reduced exposure of raw log values
  • Trade-off: no partial or fuzzy search

Encryption-First Storage

  • Sensitive data encrypted at rest
  • Encrypted environment variable support
  • Encryption keys stay under your control

Simple Mental Model

Send logs → Open dashboard → Read logs

No dashboards to assemble. No query DSLs to learn.

Who Is Logstyx For?

Logstyx is ideal for:

  • Developers debugging deployed applications
  • Teams that don’t want to share SSH access
  • Organizations avoiding SaaS logging costs
  • Privacy- or compliance-sensitive environments
  • Self-hosted or on-prem deployments

Logstyx is a focused, opinionated logging tool designed to make production debugging simple, safe, and accessible.
